2.0L MPI engine

The standard 2.0L engine delivers 147 horsepower and is mated to a standard 6-speed automatic transmission. Find the driving feel that matches your preference by choosing between three driving modes: Normal, Sport, and Smart.

1.6L Turbocharged GDI engine

The available 1.6L Turbocharged Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) engine produces 201 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque. It is paired with a standard 6-speed manual transmission or available 7-speed dual clutch transmission with paddle shifters for the driving enthusiast. In addition, Turbo models features Active Sound Design, which enhances intake and exhaust powertrain sound character inside the cabin for a more exhilarating driving experience, especially during spirited driving.

Torque Vectoring Control

Delivering a deeper driver-to-machine connection, Torque Vectoring Control (TVC) comes alive when the road turns twisty and you want improved performance in the corner. With sophisticated wheel-speed sensors at work, TVC applies precision-level braking to the inside front wheel as the Veloster navigates a turn. By minutely slowing that inside wheel, engine power is better used by the front wheel on the outside of the turn to improve grip and stability during each and every curve of the road. It makes the Veloster feel planted and agile.

The SUPERSTRUCTURE™ The Veloster features an ultra-rigid vehicle chassis at its core, which we call the SUPERSTRUCTURE™. Built with our very own Advanced High Strength Steel, it’s designed to be stronger, stiffer and lighter than conventional steel, which provides greater benefits in safety, ride comfort and fuel economy. In the event of a collision, the SUPERSTRUCTURE™ helps protect occupants inside the cabin by absorbing harmful energy and redirecting it away from the passenger compartment.

Blind-Spot Collision Warning with Lane Change Assist The standard Blind-Spot Collision Warning system uses radar to detect when a vehicle is in the driver’s blind spot and provides both an audible and visual alert to keep you safe as you move down the road. This feature works in conjunction with the Lane Change Assist system, which measures the closing speed of traffic approaching in adjacent lanes to help determine if a lane change is safe.

Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Warning Activated during reverse driving, the Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Warning system uses radar to help identify and warn the driver of vehicles approaching from the side, even before they come into view of the standard rearview camera.

Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist This available safety innovation detects rapid closing distances to the vehicle ahead. If a potential forward collision is detected, audible and visual warning notifications will alert the driver. If the driver does not react to avoid the impact, the system can provide full braking assistance.

Lane-Departure Warning with Lane-Keeping Assist Drift outside your lane without signalling and this available system will alert you with audible and visual cues. If no action is taken, Lane Keeping Assist can apply corrective steering assistance to help you remain within the lane.

Driver Attention Warning When a pattern of fatigue or distraction is detected, this available feature alerts the driver with an audible cue and pop-up message suggesting a break from driving.
