Completely redesigned

The 2018 Sonata features our latest design signature, a bold "cascading grille" inspired by the flowing descent of molten steel. The more assertive front profile features newly sculpted hood lines that complement the reshaped headlights and daytime running lights that guide your way. The dynamic lines of the rear profile have also been redesigned and feature new Sonata badging and a unique hidden trunk release button within the Hyundai badge.

Hands-free smart trunk

Enjoy the convenience of our available hands-free smart trunk technology. When the Sonata senses the key within three feet of the trunk for more than three seconds, the smart trunk will automatically unlock so you can unload your two hands worth of cargo, effortlessly.

LED side repeaters

The sleek design of the standard LED side repeaters provide added notification of your intention to turn. Side-mirrors are body colour, power-adjustable and heated to defrost quickly in cold weather.

Step inside the 2018 Sonata and you'll soon appreciate the level of detail our designers envisioned, from the revised centre console tilted slightly towards the driver for better ergonomics, to the piano key inspired buttons for a sophisticated look.

Standard heated front seats, available heated steering wheel and heated rear seats

Unwind in the comfort of standard heated front seats all year long, especially during winter. The available heated steering wheel helps keep your hands warm in the cooler months, while the available heated rear seats provide first-class comfort for the rear seat passengers.

An available panoramic sunroof spans over front and rear passengers for exceptional openness and luxury.

2.4L GDI engine mated with a 6-speed automatic transmission

The standard 2.4L Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) 4-cyclinder engine delivers 185 horsepower and 178 lb-ft of torque. It is mated to a smooth-shifting 6-speed automatic transmission with SHIFTRONIC® manual mode for an extra level of control.

2.0L Turbocharged GDI engine mated with an 8-speed automatic transmission

For even greater performance, the Sonata features an available turbocharged 2.0L GDI 4-cyclinder engine delivering 245 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. It is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters mounted on the D-cut, leather-wrapped steering wheel.

Sport-tuned suspension

The Sonata 2.4 Sport and 2.0T Sport models are equipped with sport-tuned suspension and steering for a responsive ride with enhanced handling feel. The 18" alloy wheels and larger front brakes on the 2.0T Sport model add to the dynamic feel on the road and assertive design.

7 Standard Airbags

All models are equipped with seven airbags: two advanced front airbags, two seat-mounted side-impact airbags, two side-curtain roof-mounted airbags with rollover sensors, and a driver's knee airbag for added protection.

Blind Spot Detection with Lane Change Assist

The standard Blind Spot Detection (BSD) system uses radar to detect when a vehicle is in the driver's blind spot and provides both an audible and visual alert to help keep you aware as you drive. Working in conjunction with BSD, Lane Change Assist measures the closing speed of traffic approaching in adjacent lanes to help determine if a lane change is safe.

The SUPERSTRUCTURE™

Constructed using Advanced High Strength Steel forged in our own steel mill for exceptional stiffness and rigidity, at the core of the Sonata is a SUPERSTRUCTURE™. In the event of a collision, the ultra-rigid and strong frame helps protect occupants inside the vehicle by absorbing harmful energy and redirecting it away from the passenger compartment.

BlueLink® connectivity

BlueLink® is our available connected car solution designed to simplify vehicle ownership. Access a suite of features with your smartphone or the in-car system to remotely lock, unlock or start your car, set the climate control to cool or heat up the interior, or find the closest gas station. In the event of an accident, it will even send an automatic collision notification and request assistance.
