The All New 2016 Accent | Performance Features
The Accent was engineered to outperform. It features an engine that provides consistent power in a variety of driving situations and delivers an EPA-estimated 8.7L/100km city and 6.3L/100km Hwy.
The Accent features an eco-efficient 1.6-liter GDI engine that generates 137 horsepower and 123 lb.-ft. of torque. The Dual Continuously Variable Valve Timing (D-CVVT) helps improve torque and enhance fuel efficiency so you spend less time at the pump. This 4-cylinder can be coupled with a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission with SHIFTRONIC®.
The Accent sedan has an exceptional coefficient of drag, at a mere 0.28, thanks in part to aerodynamic improvements in its design. These enhancements include a more aerodynamic body, shielded tire, and optimized engine undercover to help minimize resistance and deliver an EPA-estimated 6.3/100km Hwy.
All Accent models with automatic transmission have an Active ECO System that modifies engine and transmission control for improved fuel economy. Based on internal tests, this system provides up to a 7% improvement in real-world fuel economy.* That's a big difference.
Following in the sizable footsteps of Hyundai's Tau® V8 engine that powers the Genesis, the Accent's advanced technology GDI engine offers levels of horsepower that are unexpected for its class.
When we're looking to improve performance, no detail is too small to go unnoticed. We've utilized low rolling resistance silica tires to ensure a more efficient ride. Less friction means less energy needed to get you moving.
The Alternator Management System monitors and manages electric power delivery from the engine to the battery while the vehicle is slowing down and idling. So the engine operates under less stressful loads for longer battery life.
